Fixed Penalties and Covid
Is there anybody who can give an update on fixed penalties handed out for breaches of Covid rules, real or imagined, by police? In my days of fixed penalties, there was criminal offence alleged, a ticket would be issued and if paid that was it. If it was refused then the suspect would be reported for summons in the old fashioned way. If it was accepted but not paid then things could get a bit confusing because unless notice was given that the allegation would be contested in court then IIRC, the penalty would be 'converted' to a fine and dealt with as such.
So, is that process about the same as with Covid related tickets?
