I am seeing an increasing number of reports of skulduggery in the upcoming local elections, predominantly the removal of the opposition's* posters.
In one instance this was done by council workers on instruction from higher up.
Clearly if the posters were put up on council property without permission then they might be entitled to do this, but that was not the case.
The bottom line would be criminal damage, but are there not also electoral offences here?
Shouldn't work done by an organisation on behalf of a candidate be declared?
That won't be an offence until it isn't, but the fact that it's the council raises additional questions.
[*For clarity I mean the opposing team to the perpetrators, not Her Majesty's most loyal opposition.]
